Starting off a new year, BRICK is back and off to a great start. Reading books, solving math problems, writing epic essays, performing plays and so much more, we have also expanded our community efforts to include monthly breakfasts with families and fundraising events. Check out our events tab for some highlights of the year so far, and we will be back with Holiday Highlights soon!
After an amazing, adventurous and arduous year, how do you end it all?? How about representing at Bristlecone Storytelling Festival? How about an incredible end of the year party complete with swimming, games, BBQ, waterfight, s’mores, hiking and more? How about a trip to Carlsbad, CA to visit LEGOLAND? The BRICKsters did it all!! After an insane May, we finally had to say goodbye as the BRICKsters go their separate ways for middle school. We will miss everyone, hope everyone has a great break, and we definitely hope to see you soon! We are excited to start again in August!!
May in the BRICK Academy has been…aMAYzing! In one short month, we have gone to Las Vegas Academy for the final time to see “My Friend the Fox,” supplemented our learning with a trip to the Atomic Testing Museum, checked out the Springs Preserve, built Lego Robots and masks, and we are not even done yet! Check back soon to see how we ended the school year for BRICK Academy!
Our travels the past two months have taken us all around the Valley! We have visited Las Vegas Academy twice to see “AIDA” and “Bus Stop” which gave us laughs and tears. We have ventured to Red Rock Canyon to culminate a small erosion and geology unit. Galaxy Green Valley Luxury theaters hosted us for an inspiring morning with the powerful film “McFarlan, USA.” New adventures await after the break! Check out the events tab for more info and pictures!
The BRICKsters have been hard at work in the New Year. While studying ecosystems, practicing for our African-American History Presentation, working on other projects and much more, we have been traveling the city. The 4th and 5th graders visited the circus and Smith Center. The 5th graders have been to the Wetlands, movies, skating and more, while the 4th graders continued a wonderful partnership with the Emeritus home. Check out the events tab for more information!
The BRICKsters had a great December! We had our annual holiday clothing drive and give away at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission and donated over 4,200 articles of clothing!. We were able to read, watch and then go see a one man show of “A Christmas Carol.” And, of course, we sang songs and made hangers full of geometric genius. This year we also added a holiday show! Happy Holidays!
Even though we did not have but one full week of school in November, we managed to fit in a whole lot of activities. We are preparing for a December Holiday show, just finished “Of Mice and Men,” and began our journey of fractions. Additionally, we were able to travel all over the city, from downtown to the way down in Henderson and Boulder City. Check out some of the events to see all that we have been up to.
The BRICKsters traveled to Las Vegas Boulevard and took a trip to three museums! We learned about Las Vegas history through Neon signs, the very first non-Native American settlement in the Valley and much more. We were able to interact with reptiles and Egyptian history, and even stumbled upon a seasonal festival where we were surprised with treats, toys and characters.
BRICK Academy enters its third year bigger and better than ever! After a early start with summer school, 4th and 5th grade BRICKsters are learning about the Pyramid of Success, traditional school subjects, cultural traditions and much more. We have also taken a couple of field trips and ventured to places to participate in celebrations. Check out the events tab to see more, and the pictures below.
